Nope, I don't know anything about cats tearing up furniture

paoea 3 days ago I had to throw away 4 of my dining chairs and my office chair. They were all made from "cheap" synthetic leather. My dining chairs are now just 100% wood, and the office chair is made from more expensive real leather and alcantara. No problems so far

Poison Melody 3 days ago We have little cardboard scratchers all over the house as well as a big cat tree. They have destroyed the side of our bed and the carpet next to the scratchers

Retman_9999 - 2 days ago Multiple posts and cardboard scratches everywhere!!! At least 5 places here for that. They do get the point after a while.

We buy most of our furniture from thrift stores. I'll probably replace this couch soon with another thrift store couch

dragonrider1965. 3 days ago Get velvet, they can't shred velvet.

SquirrelNinjas 3 days ago Second the velvet. I've had all different material couches and the velvet remains in good condition. They don't scratch it for some reason.

Due-Protection6014 3 days ago My old couch use to look like that, could not get Harrison to use a scratching post unless catnip is on it. But lucky between putting catnip on the post and having a welcome mat he likes to use my new couch is safe . Cat tax

Believinall29 3 days ago You can buy specific cat scratch mats that can be placed on your couch. Or use sisal rope, which is what scratching posts are made of. I buy a role to fix the posts.when they've been torn through.shreds. Jackson Galaxy has great tips on his YouTube channel.

Ray661 3 days ago Once the couch is "ok" to tear into, you have to train them that it's not once a viable replacement exists. Double sided tape worked for my cat.

marnie_loves_cats 3 days ago Nope. I correct that as soon as I see it. And if that doesn't help the anti scratch tape comes out. As much as I love my cats, my furniture is not their scratch post. They got those and they can aluse them as much as they like.

hsavvy 3 days ago Same. And our couch was like $5k but we just put throw blankets over the arms to hide the destruction from visitors Imao

marnie_loves_cats. 3 days ago Cats are like children, they always prefer the things they cannot have or aren't allowed to touch. Fortunately my girls don't like the tape at all and keep clear of it.

Absurd Bird 3 days ago My cats tore off and chewed the double-sided anti-scratch tape, but I finally discovered that heavy- duty packing tape is slippery enough to deter them. It's pretty much invisible on the woven fabric of my couch, so I've just left it on the corners where they'd always scratch the most.

Ilovecheesecake68 3 days ago I have a cat and trained her not to scratch the furniture by having a spray bottle nearby when she was a kittten and I replaced the thin "twine" on her cat tree with very thick rope. But now yours are adults, it's going to be hard. I wouldn't keep replacing furniture as it

will keep happening and this might be your solution: embroidery patches or swatches of overlapping denim in different shades. Lots of ideas online for different tastes. Plus you could put a scratching "plank" stand against the area with rope around it

lunarbutterfly 4 days ago Keep their nails trimmed and place an appropriate scratching surface in each room. Mine loves cardboard scratchers. Even with that he tries to scratch my couch on rare occasions and I get after him every time I see. My furniture is in very good condition
